General Hospital of Jesenice in Slovenian alpine town Jesenice, had a particular and urgent need for renovation and upgrading of its gynecological department. As they are listed as the best general hospital in Slovenia their aim was to provide the best equipment and working conditions for its staff and patients. However, since hospitals lack of usable space the department was planned to be moved into the building otherwise designed for commercial activities.
Our ambition in the project was that, despite some obstacles in sence of the existing building, we could derive an optimal solution for hospital and its staff. We have designed six dispensaries and waiting – reception area, where we placed the dispensaries which does not necessarily need an active daylight, such as, for example, two clinic with ultrasound devices in the unlit sections of the builiding. while as other rooms enjoy natural lightning.
The interior fittings are design in a modern and ascetic manner with large bright and white fitting corpuses, which along whit all white equpiment provide a feeling illuminance in otherwise poorly lit spaces. Usable utillity niches are painted in bright pastel yellow, Which disrupt the otherwise very sterile image of the clinics.
